Lakehead University to induct 19 athletes to the Wall of Fame

Lakehead University will celebrate its 60th year and Thunderwolves Hockey 25th year by inducting 19 athletes to the Wall of Fame.

Sixteen of those athletes are former Lakehead Thunderwolves players which include goaltenders Grant McCune and Chris Whitley, defencemen Erik Lodge, Jordan Smith, Mike Jacobsen and Mitch Maunu, and forwards Dan Speer, Andrew Brown, Tobias Whelan, Shandor Alphonso, Bryan Duce, Chris Shaffer, Murray Magill, Mike Wehrstedt, Mark Soares and current coach Andrew Wilkins.

Of the 16 former players being inducted 10 of them were on the 2005-2006 Queen's Cup winning team which they defeated McGill 4-0 also finished 2nd at the Nationals that year after falling 3-2 in the finals to the University of Alberta Golden Bears.

The other inductees include the 1993-1994 Norwester's Volleyball team and 3 basketball players: Dan Zapior, Greg Carter and Ryan Thomson who is the current Head Coach of the men's Thunderwolves basketball team.

Also being inducted are Thunderwolves men's Hockey shareholders and executives which will be in the Builders category of the Wall of Fame.
