Lakehead will travel to Southern Ontario this weekend to resume the season after the off weekend with games against the TMU Bold and the conference leading Laurier Golden Hawks.
First up for Lakehead is the TMU Bold who have one 2 in a row. Lakehead who is 8-0-1 in the last 9 are looking to continue there hot play on Friday night. In there last meeting back on Nov 7 Lakehead held on for a hard fought 4-3 victory over the Bold.
Olivier Pouliot and Malte Hasselgren have the hot sticks for Lakehead right now with 3 goals and 11 assists for 14pts (Pouliot) and 3 goals and 8 assists for 11pts (Hasselgren) in the last 9 games . Nick De Grazia has picked up 5 goals during the same span.
On Saturday The Wolves head to Kitchener to play the Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks which will be the first meeting of the season for these to universities. Last season the teams split the 2 games in Laurier with the Hawks winning 4-3 in OT and the Wolves picking up the 3-2 win the following night. Laurier is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games with their last game being a 7-6 shoot out loss to York.
When Coach Andrew Wilkins was asked how the team will get going after the off weekend he replied "We need to focus on our game, establish our style of play early, and stay committed to it. If we do that, we give ourselves a chance to beat anyone"
Game time on Friday Nov 21 is 6:15 at the Mattamy Athletic Center against the TMU Bold and on Saturday Nov 22 is 7pm vs the Laurier Golden Hawks at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex.
