The Lakehead Thunderwolves will take on the York Lions in the best-of-three OUA West Division quarter-finals, with game #1 set for Wednesday night at York. The Wolves will return home for game #2 on Friday night, and if necessary, game #3 will also be played at the Fort William Gardens on Saturday night. Tickets for game #2 are on sale at the Gardens box office.

Last Time Out

Lakehead is coming off a home sweep of Waterloo, winning 6-4 on Friday and 3-2 in overtime on Saturday. The two victories clinched second place in the West Division for the Thunderwolves and knocked the Warriors out of playoff contention. The Thunderwolves finished the OUA campaign in second place in the West Division with 37 points after posting a record of 17-8-3.

York dropped their last two games at home, falling to Western Ontario and Windsor by identical 3-1 scores. The Lions finished in seventh place in the OUA West Division with a record of 13-13-2, good for 28 points.

Series History

Lakehead leads the all-time series with York, with a record of 31-12-0 versus the Lions. The Wolves played a two-game series at York at the end of November and swept the Lions by scores of 1-0 and 5-3.

About the Lions

York is a very strong defensive team, as the Lions allowed the fewest goals of any team in the West Division this season. Goaltender Andrew Perugini is a large part of that, having posted a 2.39 GAA this year. The Lions blue-line is anchored by defencemen John DeGray, Tyler Mort and Jordan Davies.

Up front, the bulk of the Lions scoring punch is provided by forwards Jesse Messier, Michael Lombardi and Michael Santini.
