Lakehead and Ryerson engage in a goaltending battle in front of the largest crowd (1667) of the young season.

Lakehead would strike in the first stanza as sophomore Greg Smith would take a Dylan Massie pass and put it past Ryerson's Garrett Forrest to open the scoring.

Both teams would have ample chances to score in the period, but Brock Aiken and Garrett Forrest were the story of the period and the night going save for save in a thrilling battle.

In the second Ryerson would even the score at one when Jacob Kamps would dive to keep the puck in the Lakehead zone and get up and wrist a shot through traffic that Brock Aiken just did not see coming until it was too late and ended up in the back of the net.

Lakehead would get a chance to break the tie after being awarded a penalty shot but Spencer Blackwell was turned aside by Garrett Forrest.

Aiken and Forrest would make multiple big saves in the second period to keep the game knotted at one.

In the third sophomore Geoff Dempster would take a pass from Greg Smith and one time it home from in close to put Lakehead ahead 2-1.

Brock Aiken came up big late in the game to help Lakehead preserve the win and move to 2-3 on the season.

Lakehead and Ryerson conclude the series Saturday night with puck drop 7pm.
