Lakehead Thunderwolves Hockey and Head Coach Pete Belliveau are very pleased to announce the commitment of centreman Mathieu Maisonneuve for the 2006-07 season. Maisonneuve played the last two seasons for Augustana College of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference. Last season Maisonneuve was named an ACAC Second Team All Star in a season that saw him score 17 goals and 10 assists in 24 games.

Coach Belliveau said Maisonneuve will add a strong two-way forward to the Thunderwolves line-up. Mathieu is a very gritty forward who has an excellent work ethic and great personal character. He is very tough on the puck, finishes checks, can score, takes face-offs, and can be a strong contributor on both the power play and the penalty kill special teams. He is a very complete hockey player.

Maisonneuve also honed his hockey skills for six seasons at famed Notre Dame College in Saskatchewan. He will be enrolling in Kinesiology at Lakehead. Maisonneuve said he is excited about the opportunity to play hockey and study at Lakehead. Im looking forward to coming to an organization that has been as successful as Lakehead and I hope to bring what is needed to challenge for the CIS Championship again this upcoming year.
