The new Head Coach of the Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey team finished out his career in the Central Hockey League as a champion.

After accepting the role as bench boss for the Wolves in late March, McDonald stipulated that he wanted to complete his season as Senior Advisor of Hockey Operations for the Allen Americans of the CHL. And he went out in style, winning the Presidents Cup Championship with a 3-2 overtime victory in game 7 over the Wichita Thunder.

Its great to be involved in another championship, McDonald said. And its extra special when you've helped build a new franchise from the very beginning into a winner in just four years. But now Im excited about creating new experiences with the Thunderwolves, and am looking forward to coming home shortly.

Lakehead University Athletic Director Tom Warden has seen McDonald capture titles before. Bill is a winner and he helps create a winning culture wherever he's been involved, and this most recent championship is an example of that, Warden said. Im pleased for him and congratulate the entire Allen Americans organization. Were all eager to have Bill assume his role as Head Coach and General Manager of Thunderwolves hockey soon.
