Brock McPherson of mens hockey and Shannon Vellinga of womens basketball are this weeks Lakehead Thunderwolves RBC Athletes of the Week. McPherson led his CIS No. 8 squad to two road victories over the York Lions. Vellinga led her team to home wins over the Ottawa Gee Gees and the Carleton Ravens.

McPherson continued his strong play for the Wolves this weekend on the road as he helped lead his squad to two victories over the York Lions in Toronto. The sophomore General Arts student from Brampton, Ontario has been perhaps Lakeheads most effective forward all season in terms of creating offensive chances for his teammates and controlling the puck in the opponents end.
McPherson was the catalyst in the Wolves 6-4 Saturday night victory; notching a goal and three assists.

The junior Concurrent Education student from Thunder Bay, Ontario had an excellent weekend as she led the Wolves to home wins over Ottawa and Carleton which lifted her teams record to 3-1 in OUA play.
In Fridays game against Ottawa she netted 19 points while in Saturdays match against Carleton she scored 12 points on 43.8% shooting.
