Moose Win 3-0 Over Wolves

The Lakehead Thunderwolves mens hockey team lost an entertaining game by a 3-0 score to the visiting AHL Manitoba Moose Saturday nigh before 2839 fans t at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay.

Wolves netminder Chris Whitley shone in goal; turning aside 47 tough Manitoba shots as the Moose outshot Lakehead 50-27. However, the Wolves played a very good game; marked by consistent hustle by the whole team.

The Moose were led by David Masse with two goals and an assist, Nathan Smith with a goal and an assist, and James Demone with two assists.

Dan Speer was impressive for the Wolves offensively as was Andrew Brown and the 3M line of Richard Molenaar, Matt Maisonneuve, and Donnie Mitchell. Mike Self played one of his best games ever on the Wolves blue line while Drew Kivell and Jarryd Brend also played well.

Lakehead is on the road next week as they head to the USA for a trio of games against NCAA Division I squads University of Minnesota-Duluth on Thursday, the Michigan Tech Huskies on Friday, and the Lake Superior State Lakers on Saturday.
