Mathieu Leclerc (Quebec City, Quebec) had two goals and three assists as the No.6 McGill Redmen ( 15-6-3-1) dismantle the Toronto Varsity Blues (18-8-0-0) 11-1 this past Friday night. McGill, still in the hunt for first place in the Far East Division, overpowered the Varsity Blues squad for a full 60 minutes. The Redmen chased Toronto goalie Ryan Grinnell (Toronto, Ontario) from the net midway through the second period after allowing six goals. Grinnell went into the game with the with the most wins (18) and best goals against average in the country (1.89). In a penalty filled affaire which saw 31 minor penalties assessed, the Redmen controlled the momentum for the games entirety, while out shooting the first place team in the Mid-East 33-19. In addition to Leclercs five point night Shawn Shewchuk (Lloydminister, Alberta) and Vincent Lambert (Ste-Therese, Quebec) each netted two goals and two assists a piece, while goaltender Mathieu Poitras (Gatineau, Quebec) made 18 saves in the Redmen win.

Laurier 4, Waterloo 3 OT
First year forward Nathan Peacock scored with 18 seconds left in the third period to send the game into overtime for Laurier, and then scored the eventual overtime winner as the No.7 Laurier Golden Hawks (20-5-1-0) defeated the No.5 Waterloo Warriors (20-3-2-1) 4-3. Tyler Grover (Consort, Alberta) scored the first goal of the game just 27 seconds into the first period to give the Golden Hawks the early lead. Laurier then got themselves into some penalty trouble which saw Waterloo with eight straight powerplay opportunities in the first 15 minutes of play. With the countless opportunities with the extra man, Brandon Mulholland (Newmarket, Ontario) and Sean Rocher (Ottawa, Ontario) eventually put the Warriors ahead after one. Lauriers Chad Kennedy tied it up, and the score remained 2-2 heading into the final frame. Waterloos Kevin Hurley (Kitchener, Ontario) scored his third short handed goal of the season to put Waterloo ahead until Peacock became the hero for his team on the night. Lauriers Jeff MacDougald (Shallow Lake, Ontario) had 23 saves for the win, while Warriors Curtis Darling (Calgary, Alberta) kept his team in the game, turning aside 35 shots in a losing effort.
