UQTR kept up their ridiculous offensive run, defeating the Ryerson Rams 11-0 Friday and then upending the Toronto Varsity Blues 9-2 the next night. The Patriotes scored seven times in the third period, with Nicolas Pelletier (3-3-6) and Jonathan Boutin (2-4-6) both having six-point night. Thiery Poudrier and Alexandre Morel each added a goal and three assists. Danny Dallaire turned away all 21 shots he faced for the shut-out. Pelletier and Poudrier each had another goal and three assists against the Blues. Toronto was down a single goal after 20 minutes but UQTR erupted for four in the second and two more in third. Dallaire got his second win of the weekend, making 20 saves. The Patriotes lead the OUA with 49 goals, 16 more than the Concordia Stingers who sit second in team scoring.
The Western Mustangs won two games this week to move up the Far West standings. Mike Rice scored two goals, while Sal Peralta and Matt Bannan added three points each as the Mustangs defeated the Guelph Gryphons 6-2 Thursday at the John Labatt Centre. Western scored four times in the third period. Goaltender Brad Topping stopped 28 of 30 shots for the victory. Kyle Piwowarczyk and Sean Scully each scored third-period goals to give the Mustangs a 3-2 come-from-behind win against the Golden Hawks Saturday at the JLC. Laurier goalie Nick Van Herpt made 42 saves in a losing effort. The Golden Hawks had just 15 shots on goal throughout the game. Laurier began the week with a heartbreaking 5-4 loss to rival Waterloo Thursday night. Mike Dalla Morra had four goals for the Warriors, including two in the third period to help Waterloo stay on top of the Far West. Dalla Morra made it 4-4 with a short-handed effort at 15:28 of the third and then got the winner at 4:53.
Despite giving up three goals in the third period, the Stingers defeated the Varsity Blues 7-4 Friday night. Kark Gagne had two goals and two assists for Concordia, while Philippe Lacasse, Frederic Faucher and Joey DAmico all had three-point nights. Andrew Pallotta and Ray Smegal had two goals and an assist each for the Varsity Blues. Concordia rebounded from their third-period lapse against Toronto by defeating Ryerson 11-1 Saturday, thanks to a four-goal, two-assist night from left winger Yannick Noiseaux. Lacasse added another goal and three assists in the rout.
In other OUA action, Brock and Windsor played to a scoreless tie Friday. The Lancers won the re-match 2-0 Saturday. RMC beat the Ottawa Gee-Gees 3-2 Friday, while the McGill Redmen shut-out Queens 5-0. The Golden Gaels also dropped a 4-1 decision to Ottawa Saturday, while McGill blanked the Paladins 3-0 Saturday. Waterloo defeated Guelph 8-6 in Sundays only game.
