Lakehead Captain Jeff Richards is the points leader in the Molsons Cup Three Star Trophy race heading into the final weekend of action for the Thunderwolves. As Richards status is questionable for this weekends series against Western; his lead could be in danger as both Tobias Whelan and Chris Whitley are within striking range.
Richards leads the standings with 21 points, followed by Whitley and Whelan with 15 points each. Five points are awarded for a first star, three for second star, and two for third star; so both Whitley and Whelan could catch Richards with strong showings this weekend.
The winner of the Molsons Cup Three Star Award Trophy will be presented the trophy by a representative of Molsons Canada in a special ceremony before next weeks first home playoff game.
