Scherban Named Lakehead Male Athlete of the Year

Joel Scherban of men's hockey and Rena Bode of women's Nordic Skiing were named this year's Male and FemaleAthletes of the Year at the annual Lakehead University Athletics Dinner that was held Wednesday night at the Victoria Inn in Thunder Bay. Scherban is this year's winner of the Joseph E. Sullivan Trophy as the outstanding player in CIS men's hockey as well as being named a First Team All Canadian while Bode led her team to OUA and CIS-CCUNC national championships.

Scherban was also the winner of the Argus Award and Katerina Martinovic of women's basketball was this year's recipient of the Hank Akerval Award. Chris Whitley of men's hockey was named Male Freshman Athlete of the Year while Debra Sandberg of women's basketball was named Female Freshman Athlete of the Year.
