Lakehead Athletics and Thunderwolves Hockey Head Coach Don McKee are very happy to announce the commitment of power forward Scott Dobben to Lakehead mens hockey. Dobben will be redshirting with the Wolves this season and will begin play in 2008-09; the first of the two years that Lakehead will host the CIS Mens National Championships.

The Drayton, Ontario native was selected in the 4th round of the 2002 NHL Draft by the Ottawa Senators. Dobben played for the Erie Otters and the Soo Greyhounds of the OHL. His 2001-02 Erie squad won the OHL championship. While playing for the Greyhounds, Dobben was the Soos nominee for the Bobby Smith Award, given annually to the Scholastic Player of the Year who best combines high standards of play and academic excellence.

After the OHL; Dobben saw professional action with Cleveland and Peoria of the American Hockey League, Fresno and Johnstown of the ECHL, and Motor City, Missouri, and Kalamazoo of the UHL.

McKee said Dobben will be bring power and skill to the Wolves in 08-09. We are very fortunate to get Scott to commit to us, even though he will redshirt with us this season. He is not only a great power forward; he also has great hands and an excellent scoring touch. His professional experience will help him in his transition to the CIS game and we are very excited he has committed to the Thunderwolves.

Dobben said he is very happy about his decision to attend Lakehead. Coming to Lakehead seemed like an easy decision for me with its first-class hockey and kinesiology programs. I am very excited to be coming to Lakehead although I will be redshirting until the 08-09 season.
