The SSM line of Dan Speer, MarkSoares,and BrockMcPherson powered the No. 7 Lakehead Thunderwolves mens hockey team to a 4-1 win over the Brock Badgers Friday night at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay.
Soares had three goals and an assist; Speer had four assists, and McPherson had a goal and two assists as the line scored all of Lakeheads goals and recorded all the points. Speer was the playmaking genius for the Wolves on the night; Soares hustled and scored, and McPherson worked very hard at both ends of the ice. JJ Martin scored for the Badgers; with assists going to Jonathan Labelle and and Eric Toonders.
Lakehead netminder Chris Whitley again played a stellar game for the Wolves; turning aside 25 Brock shots, including a breakaway in the second period, to record his ninth win of the OUA season and raise his record to a perfect 9-0 in OUA play.
The win moves Lakehead to 12-3 in OUA play (13-6 overall); while Brock goes to 11-4-2 in OUA action.
Final shots on goal were 42-36 Lakehead on the night. Brock was 1-3 on the powerplay while Lakehead was 0-1 with the man advantage.
