The defending TBayTel Varsity Cup Champions return to Thunder Bay looking to defend their title which they won for the first time last season by defeating Laurier. This is their third trip to the Varsity Cup as they also took part in the first tourney in 2002.

The Blues are the most storied team in OUA hockey; having won 41 Queens Cup OUA championships and 10 CIS national championships; including the inaugural University Cup in 1965-66. A team of Varsity Blues graduates captured the Olympic Gold Medal for Canada at the St. Moritz 1928 Winter Olympics.

This season; Toronto started slowly in the OUA Mid East Division; but as always seems to be the case with Coach Darren Lowes Blues; they always seem to turn it on in the second half and they are hoping to use the TBayTel Varsity Cup as a springboard into the second half of the OUA season.

Toronto is 8-8-1 in OUA play and is in second place in the OUA Mid East Division; just behind Queen's. The Blues ended the first half of regular season play with big wins over then No. 9 McGill and Ottawa.

The Blues are led by Mark Heatley who has 11 goals and 11 assists; followed closely by Anthony Pallotta with 13 goals and 7 assists. Sophomore defenceman Eddie Snetsinger leads the Blues blueliners with 2 goals and 18 assists.

Other Blues to watch are Joe Rand with 4 goals and 8 assists and Brendan Sherrard with 3 goals and 8 assists. Alex Nagribianko has potted 6 goals for the Blues so far this season. Andrew Martin is the No. 1 netminder for Toronto; starting 14 games this season and is backed by Russ Brownell.

The Thunderwolves have an all-time record of 5 wins, 2 losses, and 2 ties against Toronto and the Wolves have outscored the Blues 48-33 in those 9 games.
