After two seasons with the Lakehead Thunderwolves, defenceman Mike Thibert has decided to leave the team to focus on the demands of medical school.

Thibert, in his first term in the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, is grateful for his time spent with the Lakehead hockey team. "I would like to thank my teammates and the L.U. hockey program for their support over the past two-plus years, Thibert said. Its been a privilege to play in my hometown with a great group of guysfor a first-class program. I will take the memories and experiences with me into my future in medicine, and wish the best of luck to my teammates this season. I will always feel a part of L.U. Thunderwolves hockey.

"We have mixed emotions that Mike is leaving our program to focus on medical school, said Wolves Head Coach Joel Scherban. Were disappointed to lose Mike because he exemplified what a student-athlete is. He always had a great attitude, gave 100 percent, and was very coachable. Were proud of his accomplishments and wish him the best of luck in his pursuit of a medical degree and a career as a surgeon."
