The Lakehead Thunderwolves men's hockey team will have a large group of special guests with them this weekend when they travel to London to take on the Western Mustangs; the players' fathers.

The special father's weekend came about because Lakehead Director of Hockey Operations Jim Johnson, whose son Greg is the Captain of the NHL's Nashville Predators, attended a similar event in Nashville. "Nashville is the only team in the NHL to have this unique program and it was an incredible bonding experience for me and my son so I thought this would be a great opportunity to offer something special for the fathers of the Lakehead players."

Some of the fathers will fly with the Thunderwolves from Thunder Bay while others living in Southern Ontario will meet the team in London. The fathers will share a hotel room with their sons, eat with them, and attend pre-game and post-game meetings in the dressing room with their sons to get a feel of their sons' Lakehead hockey experience.

The fathers will watch Lakehead's Saturday game against Western at the new John Labatt Centre in London in a special corporate box. On Sunday afternoon, the fathers and sons will make a special trip to Toronto to visit the Hockey Hall of Fame.
