The Lakehead Thunderwolves will host the University of Quebec-Three Rivers Patriotes this Friday and Saturday at the Fort William Gardens, with the opening face-off set for 7:30 both nights.

Last Time Out

Lakehead is coming off a successful road trip to North Bay where the Wolves completed an impressive sweep of the Nipissing Lakers, winning both games convincingly by scores of 8-2 and 5-1.

With a conference record of 8-9-2, the Thunderwolves are currently in sixth place in the ten-team OUA West Division.

UQTR swept a pair of games at home last weekend. The Patriotes defeated Ryerson 3-1 last Friday and then downed Toronto 6-2 the following afternoon.

Series History

UQTR is the only team in the OUA East Division to hold a winning record over Lakehead. The Thunderwolves are 6-10-0 all-time versus the Patriotes.

The last time the two squads met was in November of 2012 at the Fort William Gardens, with each team taking a 3-2 win out of that series.

About the Patriotes

With an OUA record of 14-2-2, UQTR is tied atop the East Division standings along with Carleton, although the Patriotes do hold a game in hand over the Ravens.

UQTR leads the OUA in goals for (84) and three Patriotes (Marc-Oliver Mimar, Tommy Giroux and Anthony Verret) are ranked in the top six amongst league scorers, but no Patriote has more points than Lakeheads Mike Hammond, the number two point-getter in the OUA.

Defenceman Martin Lefebvre anchors the UQTR blue line, and netminder Guillaume Nadeau handles the bulk of the Patriotes goaltending duties.

Every player on the UQTR rosters hails from the province of Quebec save one (Anthony Verret) who was born in France. Most of them are products of the Quebec Major Junior League, and five different Patriotes have some professional experience in either the Central or the East Coast Hockey League.
