The Lakehead University Thunderwolves hockey team has landed its first recruit for the 2011-12 season, as goaltender Jeff Bosch has committed to the program.

Bosch, a 62 native of Martensville, Saskatchewan, played four full years of Major Junior in the Western Hockey League with three of those seasons as the starter. He began his WHL career with the Regina Pats, was traded to the Moose Jaw Warriors, and finished up his over-age year with the Kamloops Blazers.

In 182 WHL games played, Bosch had a 3.57 goals-against average with a save percentage of .889 and recorded 11 shutouts. He twice finished in the WHL Top Ten in games played, saves, and shutouts. His best season statistically came with Moose Jaw in 2009-10, when he posted a 3.08 GAA, a .903 SV%, and 6 shutouts.

This past season, Bosch started 60 games for Kamloops and won the Blazers Three-Stars trophy and the Inspirational Leadership award, and was also named both the WHL and CHL goaltender of the week in November of 2010.

Bosch is looking forward to suiting up for the Wolves next fall. "I'm very excited to be coming to Lakehead University next year, he said. After taking a tour of the campus and the city, I knew it would be the perfect place for me to get an education and help take my hockey career to the next level."

Thunderwolves Head Coach Joel Scherban is pleased withthe first commitment of the recruiting season. "Were excited to have Jeff join the Thunderwolves after an outstanding junior career in the WHL. Jeff is an athletic goalie who has garnered a reputation as both a hard worker and a leader."

Bosch will replace graduating senior Kyle Moir, and will form a goaltending tandem with junior Alex Dupuis next fall.
