After earning seven of a possible eight points during their first two weekends of OUA regular season play, the Lakehead Thunderwolves mens hockey team earned seventh place on the first CIS Top Ten rankings of the season.

Head coach Joel Scherbans Wolves, who are 5-0-1 overall, were given 76 points, and trail their weekend opponents, the sixth ranked Brock Badgers by one point. A strong weekend effort should see Lakehead move up in the standings as only four points separates the team from the fourth ranked UQTR Patriotes.

The defending CIS Cavendish University Cup champion UNB Varsity Reds lead the rankings with 166 points and stand at 10-0-0 overall in 2009-10.

Faceoff for Friday and Saturdays Thunderwolves-Badgers games at the Fort William Gardens goes at 7:30pm.
