The Lakehead Thunderwolves dominated Nipissing University from start to finish with an 8-2 drubbing of the Lakers at the Memorial Gardens in North Bay on Friday night.

Eight different players scored for Lakehead in a complete team effort to start the second half of the OUA regular-season with a bang.

Lakehead got the jump on Nipissing early, with goals from Mike Hammond and Justin Sefton less than two minutes into the game.

David Quesnele added another to put the Wolves up 3-0 just past the midway point of the first period, but Nipissing narrowed the gap with two quick goals by Chad Thibodeau and Matt Paton late in the first to make the score 3-2 for Lakehead heading into the second.

The Thunderwolves blew the game wide-open in the middle stanza with goals from Brennen Dubchak, Keith Grondin and Ryan Magill to give Lakehead a comfortable 6-2 lead after 40 minutes of play.

Kelin Ainsworth and Jay Gilbert added to the Wolves total in the third period to round out the scoring.

Nathan Cull collected 3 assists for Lakehead, while Mitch Fillman, David Quesnele, Mike Hammond, Jay Gilbert, Keith Grondin and Jake Wright all had multiple-point nights for the Wolves.

Jeff Bosch made 24 saves in the Lakehead goal as the Wolves outshot the Lakers by a 45-26 margin.

Lakehead will look to continue its winning ways when the two teams square off again tomorrow night.
