Thunderwolves training camp opens September 6

The Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey team will begin training camp on Tuesday, September 6 at the Thunder Bay Tournament Centre. The camp will kick off the Wolves 11th season, and will feature 11 new faces following a busy off-season of recruiting.


Head Coach Joel Scherban said The coaching staff is anxious to begin the new season, and were looking forward to a successful year. With so many freshmen players on the roster, were eager to see how we compete with the best teams in the league.

The Wolves will get the chance to find out how they stack up against the premier teams very early on. After opening at home on September 23-24 with a series versus UQTR, Lakehead will head down to the U.S. to take on Michigan Tech and the NCAA champion Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs the following weekend. The Thunderwolves will be back at home the next weekend to take on the two-time defending Queens Cup champion McGill Redmen in the OUA season opener on October 7-8.


The team will be on the Tournament Centre ice from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily for two weeks, and the sessions will be open to the general public. Any interested fans are welcome to come out and watch for free.
