Following their two-game road sweep at Guelph, the Lakehead Thunderwolves mens hockey team jumped two spots in the CIS Top Ten to eighth. This week marks the sixth time in seven weeks that LU has been nationally ranked. Head coach Joel Scherbans team has a 11-3-2 record in conference play and currently sits in second place in the OUA West Division, two point behind No. 3 Western (13-2-0).

The Wolves weekend opponents, the Saskatchewan Huskies drew some significant consideration for a place in the ranking but were eleventh in media voting.

For a seventh straight week, the defending University Cup champion UNB Varsity Reds were the top-ranked team, while the Alberta Golden Bears retained their second place spot.
