The Lakehead Thunderwolves finished their road trip with a 3-1 win over the Laurier Golden Hawks Saturday night in Waterloo, Ontario.

Freshman forward Geoff Dempster scored his first goal as a Thunderwolf to put Lakehead on the board midway through the first period. Kyle Auger picked up his third assist of the year on the goal.

Josh Laframboise and Daniel Del Paggio scored back-to-back goals just over a minute into the second period to extend the Thunderwolves' lead to 3-0.

Tomas Soustal and Dempster were credited with assists on Laframboise’s goal, while Taylor Egan and Auger picked up an assist each on Del Paggio’s goal.

The Golden Hawks capitalized on a power play later in the second period, with Anthony Conti getting credit for the lone Laurier goal.

Thunderwolves goaltender Nic Renyard stayed strong in net all night, making 30 saves to help give the Thunderwolves their second win of the season.

Lakehead went 0-2 on the powerplay, while Laurier was 1-4.

The Thunderwolves will be back on the road next weekend when they travel to Sudbury to face the Laurentian Voyageurs.
