Toronto edges Lakehead 3-2

Toronto nets a late goal to edge the Wolves.

Lakehead came out ready and was awarded with multiple scoring chances early in the first but took until nine minutes in for Greg Smith to tip a Ed McNiell point shot past Toronto netminder Jordan Fairlie on his blocker side.

Toronot would respond two and a half minutes later when Lakehead would have a defensive miscue behind the net and Christian Stevens would pick up the puck and attempt a wrap around and Mason Reeves would knock in the loose puck past Christian Cicigoi to even the score.

The Second period would see Toronto take the lead when Lakehead couldn't get the puck out of the zone and the Blues would get possession and get the puck on net and Nicholas Wong would bat it in past Cicigoi.

Lakehead would get two great chances to tie it up but Fairlie would make the save both times but the second one he could not hold on too and Colin Van Den Hurk would knock in the loose puck to tie the game up.

The third period would see both teams exchange chances and Toronto would get the late lead when Mason Reeves would one time a pass from out of the left corner from Jacob King five hole on Christian Cicigoi.

Toronto would hold off the Wolves for the 3-2 win

Lakehead returns to the Gardens next weekend to host long time rival Western Mustang Friday and Saturday game time 7pm both nights.
