The Lakehead Thunderwolves mens hockey team training camp is in full swing and will run through the month of September until the puck drops against the Carleton Ravens on Friday, Sep. 26th. Again, this years camp has seen a very large group of talented veterans, exciting new recruits, and some excellent invite and walk-on players battling for roster spots.

This years training camp is taking place at three venues; the Tournament Centre, Delaney Arena, and Fort William Gardens.

The theme of this years camp is again The Seven Cs. The Seven Cs are Command (of our responsibilities), Cohesion (Team first), Community (Thunder Bays Team), Commitment (Achieve our objectives), Cooperation (Teamwork), Conditioning (Proper Preparation Produces Perfect Performance), and Communication (Talk the talk and walk the walk).

So far, Head Coach Don McKee and his staff have made five cuts; three goalies, one forward and 1 defenseman. The next cut is Sep. 17th, another cut will be made after the Carleton series, and the final cut will be on Oct. 6th.

Presently, there are two goalies, 12 defence, and 25 forwards battling for positions.

Coach McKee said he and his staff are impressed with the camp and the players performances so far. The training camp is going extemely well and the guys are working very hard. The morning fitness sessions are a real test of commitment and character; 7 a.m. in the great outdoors!

Training Camp Notes:
- Jesse Pyatts status is still uncertain after his recent injury;
- New recruit Kalvin Sagert heads for Edmonton Oilers Rookie camp and Coach McKee and his staff wish Kalvin well but hope he returns to help the Wolves win a National Championship;
- Recruit d-man Bryan Wilson is out with groin injury for 7 days
- Lakehead will be going with their star goaltending tandem of Chris Whitley and Kyle Moir

The camp is building momentum towards next Tuesdays East vs. West full scrimmage game and the public is invited to attend that event at the Tournament Centre at 8:30 pm. Coach McKee also extends a warm welcome to all Thunderwolves' fans and the media to attend select on-ice Training Camp scrimmages and training sessions. This years camp will again begin at the Tournament Centre and finish off at the Fort William Gardens.
