The Lakehead Thunderwolves men's hockey team is very proud to announce the appointment of Jacques Trudel as Western Canada Scout. Trudel, a native of St. Martin de Beauce, Quebec, has been actively involved in hockey in British Columbia for almost 30 years. He currently resides in Kamloops, B.C. where he is a Line Manager for B.C. Hydro as well as the Manager of Powerline Contractors, a Kamloops electrical contacting company.

Trudel moved from Quebec to Vancouver in 1976 to work for B.C. Hydro and he coached bantam and midget hockey in North Delta, B.C. for 12 years, leading his teams to two provincial titles. He was Regional scout with the New Westminster Bruins of the Western Hockey League from 1983-86 and then the Victoria Cougars from 1986-88. In 1988 Trudel left B.C. Hydro to work for a Vancouver travel agency where he organized sports tours all over the world. He returned to B.C. Hydro and hockey scouting in 1992 and he served as Vancouver and Lower Mainland scout for the Kamloops Blazers from 1992-2001.

In 2001, Trudel moved to Kamloops to serve as Chief Scout for the Okanagan Mainline region. Trudel has three Memorial Cup Rings with the Blazers; as Kamloops were CHL champions in 1992, 1994, and 1995.

Lakehead Head Coach Pete Belliveau said Trudel is a welcome addition to the Lakehead hockey family. We are very happy to add Jacues Trudels expertise, experience, and scouting skills; he will be a very important person in our recruiting efforts in Western Canada. Jacques has the knowledge and experience from many years of scouting in the WHL; and this combined with his personality will give us a fantastic ambassador in Western Canada.

Trudel is married to wife Barbara and has two grown sons and two young grandchildren. He enjoys golf, gardening, and woodwork projects in the summer but winter is all about hockey. Trudel averages more than 200 hockey games each winter.

Trudel said he is looking forward to helping Lakehead reach the top of CIS hockey. I love watching hockey and take great pride in being part of winning organizations. I really believe that it takes winners with great character to make winning teams and my goal is to identify such players from Western Canada and as a result help Lakehead attain its goal of becoming #1 in Canada. It was my privilege to win three Memorial Cup rings with the Kamloops Blazers and be part of that great organization and I would love to get a CIS championship ring with the Thunderwolves. Ill work as hard as I can and see as many games as needed to help Lakehead reach the top!
