The Lakehead Thunderwolves lost a tough road match to the Waterloo Waterloo Warriors Friday night by a 4-2 decision. Lakehead now has an 8-4-1 OUA mark (12-7-3 overall) while Waterloo is 9-1-1 in OUA play and 11-5-1 overall.

Lakehead got goals from Erik Lodge and Shandor Alphonso while Ryan MacGregor, Frank Fazio, Shane Hart, and Dave Philpott scored for the Warriors. Lakehead outshot Waterloo 44-29 in the game. The Thunderwolves were missing CIS All Canadian Jeff Richards who was injured during practise this week.

Lakehead Head Coach Pete Belliveau said his team was up against a tough opponent. Theres no doubt about it; they wanted it more than us. The first was pretty even, we had a lot of shots in the second but Waterloo scored on their opportunities, and the third we picked it up but Curtis Darling played well in the Warriors goal. Overall, I give them credit, theyre a very good team that doesnt hurt itself, and well have to pick up the intensity on Saturday.

The two teams take to the ice again at the Columbia Ice Fields Arena on Saturday night in Waterloo and the game can be heard live on 580 CKPR AM radio in Thunder Bay and on the web at www.ckpr.com.
