Tobias Whelan of men's hockey and Karla Brayshaw of women's volleyball are this week's Lakehead Thunderwolves RBC Athletes of the Week.
Tobias Whelan: Mens Hockey: Fifth Year Senior: Forward: Orillia, Ont.
The Wolves assistant captain played very strong and consistent two-way hockey for the Wolves as they earned three out of four possible points against the York Lions at home this weekend. In both the Friday 3-1 win and the Saturday 7-6 OT loss; Whelan was a forechecking and backchecking presence on his normal line shifts as well as during the Lakehead penalty kill. In Saturdays OT loss; Whelan also picked up two assists.
Karla Brayshaw: Womens Volleyball: Junior: Thunder Bay, Ont.
Brayshaw had a very good weekend for her team; helping lead the Wolves to their first win of the season. She played a huge game for the Wolves in their 3-1 win over RMC; notching 15 kils, 5 Service Aces, 11 digs, and 20 points. In the 3-0 loss to Queens; she still led the team with 5 kills, 1 Service Ace and 6 points.
