Who is furry, grey, likes to skate and loves to cheer? Its Wolfie! He is the mascot of my favourite hockey team, the Lakehead University Thunderwolves!

The Thunderwolves team consists of hockey players who are going to school at Lakehead University here in Thunder Bay. The team plays their league games against teams from other Universities in Ontario. Each year the Thunderwolves try to win their league so they can play in the National University Championships. As of right now, they are ranked as the 8th best University hockey team in Canada.

Each person on the Thunderwolves hockey team is a very good hockey player. My favourite player is Murray Magill! This past year he scored 20 goals and got 22 assists. He is 6 feet , 2 inches tall and wears number 20 on his jersey. Number 20 is now my favourite hockey number when I play.

The Thunderwolves play their home games at the Fort William Gardens. Game night is very exciting! As many as 3500 hockey fans fill the arena. In the lobby of the Gardens you can get your face painted and buy Thunderwolves souvenirs. There are also many good snacks you can buy! In between periods you can play chuck a puck to win a prize. Local hockey teams take turns playing cub hockey at intermissions as well. And when the Thunderwolves score a goal, all the fans go crazy! When the T-Wolves are playing games out of town, you can still listen to the game on the radio or the internet.

The time I won fan of the game I was very surprised. I won because I was wearing a Thunderwolves jersey, I had my face painted like a wolf, and I had the BEST wolf howl there. The announcer introduced me on the loud speaker and I stood on my chair and waved to everybody in the arena.

Thunderwolves hockey school is where I first met Murray. It is a training school to help young hockey players develop their skills. The Thunderwolves players help teach kids how to be a better hockey player, with emphasis on sportsmanship, self discipline and how to respect others.

Thunderwolves hockey is some of the best action youll ever see in Thunder Bay. Go and watch a game or two next year youll have a blast!
