The Lakehead University Thunderwolves hockey team has added some more team size with commitments from forward Jason Grecica and defenceman Luke Maw.

Grecica, a 63, 215 pound right winger from Surrey, B.C., was the 42nd overall draft pick in the 2005 WHL draft by the Moose Jaw Warriors. He was traded to Portland for the 2007-08 season after two years in Moose Jaw and played in 84 WHL games before missing the 2008-09 season due to a knee injury. In his final year of Junior eligibility, he scored 21 goals and added 34 assists for 55 points for the Coquitlam Express of the BCJHL. Riley McIntosh, who committed to Lakehead earlier this spring, and former Thunderwolf Mark Soares also suited up for the Express.

Maw, a 61, 200 pound defenceman from Beeton, Ontario, played four years for the Newmarket Hurricanes of the OJHL, and was named Captain of his team last season.

Thunderwolves Head Coach Joel Scherban said We are excited that Jason and Luke have chosen to attend Lakehead University next fall. Theyre team-first players that will both bring size and a strong work ethic to our program. He added that Grecica is a big, strong forward who is healthy now after going through three knee surgeries, and were excited about the potential he brings to the Thunderwolves. Maw is a tough, stay-at-home defenceman who is known for his strength and excellent conditioning.
