The Lakehead Thunderwolves and the Carleton Ravens split their first ever two-game set by identical 3-2 scores Saturday night as the Wolves won the postponed finale of Fridays lightning struck game in a shootout while the Ravens won Saturday nights second game by the same score in regulation time.

Fridays game had been postponed as lightning had caused a power failure in the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay after two periods of play so a shootout was played at the beginning of Saturday nights match to decide Fridays outcome and the Wolves won it on a goal by their sixth shooter; Dan Rogers.

Both Lakehead netminder Chris Whitley and Carleton netminder Alex Archibald were very sharp in the shootout.

Saturday nights regulation game was a match of fits and starts with the some solid play exhibited by both teams netminders; Carletons Archibald and Jordan Wakefield and Lakeheads Kyle Moir.

Lakeheds goals came from Dan Speer and Scott Dobben. Carletons goals were notched by Francis Walker, Adam Marriner, and Brad Good. The Ravens Walker, a former Lakehead player, had a great return to his old stomping grounds and led all scorers with a goal and an assist.; to add to his goal from Friday nights game.

Lakeheads Kalvin Sagert and Jordan B. Smith had good games defensively while Bobby McBride and Brandon MacLean played solid games for the Ravens. The game also featured a thunderous hit by the Wolves Pierre-Marc Guilbault that propelled a Carleton forward over the boards into the Lakehead players bench.
Shots on goal were 36-32 Lakehead on the night.

Lakehead again had problems with costly giveaways and undisiplined penalties which cost them the game. However, the Wolves can view the series as a test bed for possible line combinations. Lakehead will be using this series and next weeks threegame non-conference weekend to make their final cuts and decide their roster.

The Molsons Three Stars were:
1) Carleton: Francis Walker
2) Carleton: Adam Marriner
3) Lakehead: Brad Priestlay
