Lakehead Thunderwolves Hockey has announced the new schedule for the upcoming 2006-07 season; the Wolves sixth OUA campaign. Seasons tickets will go on sale at the Fort William Gardens Box Office in mid-June. The new season will see the defending Queens Cup Champions, and the whole OUA, play their first ever 28-game regular season schedule. The additional four games will balance the OUAs schedule with those of the Canada West and AUS conferences. The four new regular season games will be played against teams from the OUA Far East Division for the first time during the regular season (UQTR on the road and Queens Cup opponent McGill at home).

The defending CIS Silver Medallists will begin home action against the Manitoba Bisons of Canada West on September 22nd and 23rd. This will be followed by two exciting home games against the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League on September 29th and 30th. The Wolves will then embark on a three-game NCAA non-conference trip around Lake Superior to tackle the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs (WCHA), the Michigan Tech Huskies (WCHA), and the Lake Superior State Lakers (CCHA).

The OUA regular season home schedule begins with back-to-back stands against Windsor and Brock in October followed by Kirk Muller and his Queens Golden Gaels in November. McGill makes its first regular season visit in early December and then its time for the annual T Bay Tel Varsity Cup Tournament which this holiday season will see the return of defending tourney champions Calgary as well as CIS finalists Laurier and the always tough Toronto Varsity Blues.

The New Year will see Thunder Bay invaded by two teams from Waterloo; the Waterloo Warriors early in January and Laurier returns at the end of the month. The regular season wouldnt be complete without a home stand against the Western Mustangs and this season Lakehead wraps up the regular season with two games at home in early February against the mighty Stangs. Playoffs run from February to early March with the OUA Queens Cup Championship game scheduled for Mar. 10th. This years CIS National Championships will take place in Moncton, New Brunswick from Mar. 22nd to Mar. 25th.

Thunderwolves Hockey Executive Director Jason Mallon said Lakehead hockey fans will be in for a fantastic year of hockey at the Fort William Gardens this season. The 2006-07 home schedule is one of the best in years. We will have the Manitoba Moose coming to town, CIS National tournament qualifiers McGill will return in December and Laurier at the Varsity Cup Tournament, and, best of all, we finish up the regular season with the Western Mustangs. Our season ticket holders are set-up for some first class hockey entertainment this year.
