As the Wolves await their OUA West semi-final round playoff opponent; perhaps its time to reflect back on the regular season. And what a regular season it was! The Wolves set a number of team and individual records during this memorable season. The Wolves set a new standard for wins in a season with 23; breaking the old mark of 18 set twice during the then 24-game regular season. As a direct comparison; this years squad won 21 games at the 24-game mark.

The Wolves set a new mark for home wins with 11. They also set the record for away wins with 12. Finally, they set a new standard for consecutive regular season wins with 11.

On the individual side; senior Dan Speer set a new Lakehead record for points in a season with 47; on 14 goals and 33 assists. The 33 assists is also a new Lakehead record. Speer was also the first Thunderwolves player to ever win the OUA scoring title. Speer and his SSM line-mates of Brock McPherson (46 points), and Mark Soares (44 points) all broke the previous Lakehead points record of 41 points set by Tobias Whelan last season. Speer, McPherson, and Soares were also the first Lakehead forward line to lead the OUA in scoring as Speer was first, McPherson second, and Soares tied for third in the conference.

Lakehead senior netminder Chris Whitley got in on the action as well. He set a new record for wins in a season with 15; posting a 15-0 record. This broke Grant McCunes record of 14 set in 2003-04. Whitley also set new Lakehead standards for GAA with 2.05 and Save Percentage with .925; bettering records that he already set in 05-06.

Finally, senior captain Andrew Brown, Captain Clutch, set a new Lakehead record for game winning goals with eight. Brown led the CIS in this category; three ahead of Lauriers Craig Voakes.

It has been a great season but now the Wolves must prepare for the playoffs and the battle that is the brutally competitive OUA West. Hopefully, they will be able to build upon their hard work and accomplishments of the regular season as they attempt to fight their way to the Queens Cup Final and the University Cup national championships in Moncton at the end of March.
