Five members of the Lakehead Thunderwolves mens hockey team have again accepted the challenge to play floor hockey against the Thunder Bay ThunderHawks Special Olympics team on Wednesday, Feb. 11th at LEcole Gron Morgan at 6:30 pm. The ThunderHawks are a team of developmentally challenged players from Thunder Bay. This will be the second annual staging of the floor hockey battle between the Wolves and the Hawks.

The game will also feature a special cheque presentation by Fountain Tire and Musselwhite Mines to Thunder Bay Special Olympics for the annual Thunderwolves Score For More promotion; which sees Musselwhite Mine and Fountain Tire donate 15 dollars for each Lakehead Thunderwolves goal scored at all Wolves home games during the season. This season the total raised was 1,800 dollars.

The players from the Thunderwolves taking part are Brad Priestlay, Ryan Baird, Devin Welsh, Mark Soares, and Kris Hogg.

Mine Maintenance Coordinator Darrel Brown said Musselwhite is again proud to support Special Olympics. Musselwhite Mine is proud to be a sponsor of the Score for More program and, as a whole, feel that this is a great opportunity to give back to our community. This year we are excited to be able to contribute to The Special Olympics and at the same time support our Thunderwolves; a win-win situation. We are thrilled and fortunate to have a great partner, Fountain Tire, in the Score for More program and look forward to continuing our commitment to making a difference.

Manager Darcy Hunter said Fountain Tire is again pleased to partner with the Wolves, Musselwhite Mines, and Special Olympics. "Fountain Tire is proud to be not only a supporter but a fan of the Thunder Bay Special Olympics. The local coaches and athletes are truly amazing. To be able to give what we can to such a great group with the help of Musselwhite Mine and the Thunderwolves is an honour. Last years game was a very hard fought battle. A rivalry is definitely in the making."

Lorraine Halabisky, Event Coordinator and Treasurer of Thunder Bay Special Olympics, said Special Olympics is again the big winner. "This game will be a really fun way to mark another very successful season in which the Thunderwolves, Fountain Tire, and Musselwhite Mine teamed together to help athletes with developmental disabilities who participate in Special Olympics Thunder Bay. Thank you so much and this money will be used in many ways to enrich the lives of these athletes."
