A goal by Lakehead captain Andrew Brown with 2:21 left in the third proved the game winner as Browns No. 5 Thunderwolves mens hockey team notched a 4-2 come-from-behind win over the Waterloo Warriors Friday night in Waterloo. The game was a very fast paced and physical affair; highlighted by strong goaltending in both nets; with the Wolves coming back from a 2-0 deficit to score four unanswered goals to get the win.

The Wolves go to 17-3-1 OUA mark in conference play (21-7-1 overall) while Waterloo now has a 15-8 conference record. Lakehead jumps back into first in the OUA Far West; one point ahead of Western; four up on Laurier, and five ahead of Waterloo.

Lakeheads other goals came from Mark Soares, Kris Hogg, and Shandor Alphonso. Brown and Soares also notched an assist each. Waterloos scoring came from Doug Spooner and Shane Hart.

Lakehead netminder Chris Whitley turned in another excellent game and raised his OUA record to a perfect 12-0. Waterloo freshman netminder Jimmy Bernier also played a strong game; kicking aside 34 Lakehead shots. Lakehead outshot Waterloo 38-31 on the night. The Wolves were 1-4 on the powerplay while Waterloo was 1-6.

Waterloo went ahead 2-0 on goals by Hart and Spooner before Lakeheads Soares scored his sixth consecutive goal for the Wolves in the second period to bring the Wolves within one. Kriss Hogg then tied it at 7:31 of the third and then Brown scored his beauty to give Lakehead its first lead. Waterloo pulled netminder Bernier and Alphonso fired the puck the length of the ice to score with 55 seconds left in the third and seal the victory.
