The Lakehead Thunderwolves Mens Hockey Team made its second round of cuts late Tuesday night after the annual East vs. West inter squad scrimmage.

Head Coach Don McKee and his staff had a very difficult task making the cuts as every player on the ice showed a lot of commitment and talent towards making the Thunderwolves.

The ten cuts were forwards Yari Pihelgas, Jeff Manryk, Devin Monetta, David Proulx, Yves Bernard, David George, Brooks Mejia, Joe Nigro and defencemen Mike Thibert and Matt Mitchell.

McKee said he was very impressed by all the players. I was very encouraged by the commitment shown by all of these players during the Thunderwolves camp as they displayed strong hockey skills and tactics. Our coaching staff would like to wish these players all the best in their studies as well as with their hockey development as they continue their hockey careers with their junior clubs or elsewhere.

The Thunderwolves are now down to 29 players; and the Wolves will make another cut after the non-conference series against the Carleton Ravens on Sep. 26th and 27th; with the final cut coming on Oct. 6th. There are now two goalies, 10 defencemen, and 17 forwards left in camp.
