The York Lions came out of the gate hard and aggressive and maintained that pace for the entire game.

Turnovers where also an issue for the Thunderwolves throughout the game and that proved costly in the end.

Yorked scored two goals in the opening stanza as Brandon Yeamans and Braydon Buziak with his 1st of three points on the night both found the back of the net.

Lakehead's Cole Edwards would break through on the powerplay in the second with a wrist shot that found the top shelf on York netminder Cole Ceci to cut the lead to one.

York would answer back with two quick goals by Justin Bean on the power play and Lucas Theriault on a Lakehead turnover to put York up by two once again.

In the third Lakehead would open the scoring on the powerplay when Colin Van Den Hurk would find twine on a beautiful wrist shot from the right faceoff circle.

York would strike with two more goals late in the period when Brendan Browne backhanded one past Weyrick and Xavier Pouliot would put one in the empty net to round out the scoring for the night.

Lakehead generated a lot of scoring chances but could not capitalize on them in the end.

Lakehead was 2/3 on the powerplay while York was 1/4.

Lakehead and York play two more times Friday and Saturday nights with puck drop at 7pm both nights.
