The Lakehead Thunderwolves will finish up the OUA regular season with a pair of games on the road this weekend. The Wolves will play at Brock on Friday night, and then travel to Waterloo for Saturdays game.

Last Time Out

Lakehead is coming off a home sweep Waterloo. After defeating the Warriors 4-3 on Friday in a shootout, the Wolves crushed Waterloo 9-3 on Saturday night.

Brock played only one game last week, losing 3-2 in overtime at home to the Laurier Golden Hawks.

Serving Suspensions

Three Lakehead players will miss this weekends action as a result of suspensions handed out after the Wolves last road game in Windsor. Jake Carrick, Carson Dubchak, and Trevor Gamache will all have to sit out the final two games of the regular season. Interim Head Coach Mike Busniuk will be back behind the bench after serving his one-game suspension last Saturday.

Playoff Implications

This weekends action is important for the playoff hopes of all three teams involved. Lakehead and Waterloo have both clinched playoff spots but are playing for seeding, while Brock is still struggling just to make it into the post-season.

Lakehead currently sits in second place in the OUA West Division and will stay there with two wins, but could fall to as far down as fourth place if things dont go well. Either way, Lakehead will have home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs, but a second-place finish would give the Wolves home ice in the second round as well should they advance.

Waterloo is in seventh place and cant fall any further in the standings, but could move up to as high as fifth place with a pair of wins and some help.

Brock presently holds the eighth and final playoff spot, but with only a one-point lead over Ontario Tech, the Badgers position is precarious.

Tickets on Sale

Although Lakeheads first-round playoff opponent is still to be determined, the Wolves will play game one of the West Division Quarter-Finals on the road next Wednesday night. Game two will be played at the Fort William Gardens on Friday, February 15, and if necessary, game three will be played Saturday, February 16 in Thunder Bay. Tickets for Lakeheads first home playoff game will go on sale at the Fort William Gardens box office on Friday, February 8.
