Lakehead Thunderwolves mens hockey is proud to announce the commitment of speedy keyboard player and bandleader Paul Shaffer to the Thunderwolves hockey program. The 5 10 170 lb Thunder Bay native is lightning fast on the keyboard, quick on the uptake, and is a proven leader in pressure situations.

In fact, the Grammy Award winning Late Show with David Letterman bandleader was in Thunder Bay Thursday attending Lakehead University's 40th Anniversary Weekend where he took part in special dedication ceremonies for his mother and father at Lakehead as well as playing with an all star band at the Alumni Dinner Thursday night (see photo) in Lakeheads new Hangar athletic building. Shaffer holds an Honorary Doctorate from Lakehead.

Earlier in the day Shaffer attended the dedication ceremony of the new Bernard Shaffer Boardroom at Lakehead's ATAC High Technology Centre named for his father, Bernard, who was one of Lakehead's original Board of Governors in the 1960's and remained a strong supporter of Lakehead University until his passing. Shaffer had alsopractised earlier in a music room that had beendedicated for his mother a few years agoat the Lakehead Music Building. Shaffer also met with Lakehead alumni at a BBQ lunch held on the Lakehead campus.
