Wolves get recruits

(Thunder Bay, ON) The Lakehead University Thunderwolves Men's Hockey program is proud to announce their new recruits for the 2002-2003 OUA hockey season.

T-Wolves Head Coach Pete Belliveau and Lakehead Athletic Director Tom Warden are pleased to confirm the commitment of defencemen Tyler Williamson (Thunder Bay, Ont.), Mike Jacobsen (Thunder Bay, Ont.), Hugo Lehoux (Quebec City, Que.), Kevin Livingston (Cranbrook, B.C.), and Forwards Jeff Richards (Kenora, Ont.), Brian Duce (Thunder Bay, Ont.), and Murray Magill (Thunder Bay, Ont.).

Defence:

Tyler Williamson (5-9, 185 lbs) played with the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2000-2001. He sat out last year, and red shirted with Lakehead from January 2002. He formerly played with the Thunder Bay Junior Flyers. Williamson is a very skilled player, has great skating skills, passes well and plays one-on-one very well. He is a very mobile defenseman Mike Jacobsen (6-1, 205 lbs) has played in the OHL for the last five years for Owen Sound. He was drafted by the Chicago Black Hawks. Mike is a good all around defenseman with excellent offensive skills. He is a great skater and passer who could be all star material in the OUA.

Hugo Lehoux (6-2, 210 lbs) played the last four years in the QMJHL with the Montreal Rockets and the Halifax Mooseheads. Hugo is a very physical defensemen who loves to hit and play the body. He skates well and can make that good first pass out ofhis ownzone.

Kevin Livingston (6-1, 205 lbs) played in BCJHL for the past four years with the Trail Smokeaters. Kevin is solid defensive defenseman who moves the puck well and loves to finish his checks.

Forwards:

Jeff Richards (5-11, 185 lbs) played the last three years with the Sault Ste-Marie Greyhounds of the OHL. Last year he had a career year with 34 goals and 35 assists. Jeff was voted the hardest worker in the league this year by the OHL coaches. He plays with tremendous intensity and tenacity in all three zones.

Brian Duce (5-11, 200) was a member of the Thunder Bay Midget Flyers which won the Air Canada Cup Midget Championship. Brian played with the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL for four years, and then played three years of pro hockey in the East Coast Hockey League and the AHL. He was red-shirted last season to get his CIS playing status.

Murray Magill (6-3, 210) played with the Ottawa Junior Senators for the last two seasons. He was among the team's top three offensive players both years. Murray is a big power forward who has excellent hands and great speed.

"All seven of these recruits have impressive credentials," said T-Wolves Head Coach Pete Belliveau. "These seven young men are all highly skilled and extremely competitive and will play with great work ethic and character every night. We expect all to make important contributions to the program in the upcoming season."

"We are extremely pleased with the quality of student-athletes we are bringing into our program," said Lakehead's Athletic Director Tom Warden. "We feel they will add to the quality of our hockey team as well as make important contributions to our university and our community."
