The Lakehead Thunderwolves will be looking to halt their six-game winless streak in OUA play when they host the Nipissing Lakers for a pair of games at the Fort William Gardens this weekend. The opening face-off set for 7:00 PM on both Friday and Saturday nights.

Last Time Out

Lakehead is coming off a tough road trip to Montreal where the Wolves dropped both games last weekend. After falling 5-1 to the East Division-leading McGill Redmen on Friday night, the Wolves were downed 8-3 by the Redmen in the Saturday rematch.

Nipissing also lost a pair of games, both of them at home. After being edged 3-2 in overtime by Guelph on Friday, the Lakers were beaten 5-1 by Western the following night.

Injury Report

The Thunderwolves will be without Nathan Cull (concussion) this weekend, and David Quesnele (shoulder) is doubtful.

Series History

Lakehead and Nipissing have only met four times previously, and the Wolves have taken all four contests from the Lakers.

The Thunderwolves played at Nipissing last January and swept the Lakers handily, winning by scores of 8-2 and 5-1.

About the Lakers

Located in North Bay, Nipissing University competes in the OUA East Division and is currently in seventh place with a conference record of 2-3-3.

The Lakers most dangerous scoring threats are sophomore forwards Jacob McDowell, Brock Morrison and Erik Robichaud. McDowells brother Jim is Nipissings top defenceman, and freshmen netminder Domenic Graham has handled the bulk of the Lakers goaltending duties so far this season.

Freshmen Contributing

Coming into the weekend, four of Lakeheads top seven point-getters are freshmen (Jake Ringuette, Linden Springer, Billy Jenkins and Sam Schutt). Junior Cody Alcock leads the team with nine points, and seniors Carson Dubchak and Kelin Ainsworth round out the Wolves scoring leaders.
