Lakehead Thunderwolves mens hockey Head Coach Don McKee announced Saturday that three players, Chris Thorpe, Curtis Sandberg, and Kristoffer Karlsson, have been cut from the roster at the Wolves training camp.

Coach McKee said all three players have worked very hard at camp but the numbers battle for forward spots on this years squad meant resulted in their being cut. There are now 28 players left at Lakeheads training camp and Coach McKee is aiming at a roster of 23 or 24 players for the 2007-08 campaign.

McKee said he was impressed by all three players. These guys have had excellent camps and it was a difficult decision to make these cuts. I hope that they will return next year to try out again and all three will be invited to our camp next season.

Sandberg, who played for Schreiber in the SIJHL last season, had a strong camp and McKee is recommending that Sandberg get more seasoning in Junior this year. Thorpe, who played for the Thunder Bay Bulldogs of the SIJHL, is working towards a medical degree and Coach McKee wishes him well in his academic studies.

Karlsson, a visiting Lakehead student from Sweden, was attending his first ever Canadian training camp and felt it was very different than back home in Sweden. He also really enjoyed the experience but felt he was perhaps a step behind and now knows the level he needs to attain to play CIS hockey.
