The Lakehead Thunderwolves mens hockey team wore special retro style jerseys during the Friday, January 30th game against the Waterloo Warriors to increase prostate cancer awareness in Northwestern Ontario as well as to raise money for cancer research.

The Wolves wore beautiful vintage white, blue, and gold special jerseys that were then auctioned off following the game to Lakehead fans.

The special jersey auction raised 3116 dollars towards cancer research; and all of the proceeds went to Northern Cancer Fund of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.

Lakehead Hockey Operations Manager John Payetta said the end result was a great event for fans and a lot of money raised for a great cause. All 26 jerseys were auctioned off and there was a lot of fan excitement surrounding this event. The winning bidders were were happy to meet the players (who all stayed on the ice after the game to autograph their jerseys and pose for photos). Jordan Smith, Brock McPherson, Kris Hogg, Dan Speer, and Chris Whitleys jerseys had the highest bids and we are very happy to have helped out such a worthy cause.
