Wolves to Play NCAA Opponents

The Lakehead Thunderwolves Men's Hockey Team is very happy to announce that they will be playing exhibition games against two NCAA Division 1 opponents in the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons.

Lakehead will be playing one game against the Michigan Tech Huskies at Houghton, Michigan on Oct. 8, 2004. The Huskies will then visit Thunder Bay to play two games on Fri. Dec. 17th and Sat. Dec. 18th. The Huskies play in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) and were NCAA Champions in 1962, 1965, and 1975.

Lakehead has also received confirmation that the Lake Superior State Lakers from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan will take part in the Bell Canada Varsity Cup Tournament in December of 2005. The Lakers play in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) and were NCAA Champions in 1988, 1992, and 1994. They were also NAIA Champions in 1972 and 1974. The Lakers were the first team that the Thunderwolves played in an exhibition game at the beginning of the 2002-2003 season; with Lake Superior State winning by a 5-2 score.
