The CIS No. 10 Lakehead Thunderwolves mens hockey team returns home for two games against the York Lions this Friday and Saturday night at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay.

Lakehead (6-3-1 OUA; 8-5-1 overall) is coming off an away sweep against the UOIT Ridgebacks and is in second place in the OUA Far West Division with 13 points; 4 points behind division leading Laurier and a point ahead of third place Waterloo. York (4-4-1 OUA; 6-5-1 overall) is coming off a split against Windsor that saw both teams win in their opponents barn. York is in third place in the OUA Mid West Division; five points behind first place Guelph and three points behind second place Brock.

Lakehead Thunderwolves Head Coach Don McKee said the Lions will be a big test for the Wolves at home. York makes its first trip to Thunder Bay under the leadership of their new coach, Kevin Forest. York is definitely proving to be a team that is again capable of making the West Conference playoffs. They remain only three points behind Brock with one game in hand on the Badgers and three games in hand on Guelph. They have strong goaltending and excellent defense but you can never overlook their big three offensive powers; Scott Restoule, Dan Torres, and Tyler Harrison. Our success will depend on keeping these guys off the score sheet. Their impressive 6-1 win at Windsor this past weekend will definitely be a confidence builder as they head in to Thunderwolves Territory this weekend.

Both games face off at 7:30 pm EST at the Fort William Gardens. Both will be videowebcast live on a pay per view basis with ordering information available at http://events.news-cast.com/events/Lakehead Rock 94 FM Sports Director Bryan Wyatt will be calling the play by play and Argus Sports Editor Mike St. Jean will be handling the colour, pre-game and intermission duties. Broadcasts begin at approximately 7:20 pm EST each night. Fans will need hi speed internet and Windows Media Player to watch the broadcasts.

Saturdays game will also feature a fun and unique fundraising event by Thunderwolves Hockey and The Kidney Foundation; 2,000 Whoopee Cushions will be sold at the door for two dollars apiece with all proceeds going to The Kidney Foundation. During the third period; all the fans that purchased cushions will be directed to perform a simultaneous Whoopee Cushion Sit and make a sound unlike anything ever heard before at the Fort William Gardens; and all for a great cause!
